Do Not Fear
Do Not Fear is a command in the word of God, not a suggestion. This is something that we must obey in order to walk in faith. In one version there are phrases “do not fear” or “do not be afraid” 365 times, one for every day of the year! How cool is that!
As believers this may be the area where the enemy attacks us the most. Fear is paralyzing and is the opposite of faith. In other words, if we are operating in a spirit of fear, then we are not in faith. In Joshua 1:9, the Lord tells us, “Have I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage: be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
II Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” We see from this scripture that fear does not come from God, and we should not allow it to stop us from doing what God is asking of us. This is a challenge for us all, if we are honest. This is when we have to trust in what we don’t see or feel, and that is faith!
I know in my life personally, I have always battled fear, particularly when it comes to putting myself in front of others to speak. I can feel every part of my body shake and tremble, and the thoughts of: “what may happen” or “what will they think” assault my mind like a machine gun. The battlefield is the mind, and we have to renew our mind continuously with God’s word to cast down those thoughts and keep moving.
Romans 12:2 tells us that we are “transformed by the renewing of our mind to prove what is the good acceptable and perfect will of God.” This is an area where we have to choose to make this a habit. Fear is an enemy that is relentless, and we must fight the good fight of faith and learn the weapons of warfare as believers in God’s army.
Another key is resting in God’s perfect love, which casts out fear according to I John 4:18. The most important part of your battle plan is spending time with the Father and building a personal relationship through Jesus Christ. This may be the most challenging task in the hectic world we live in, but it will change your life!
I am learning that the more time I consecrate to resting in the Father’s love, reading His word, and worshiping Him the more equipped I am to overcome all we face in this world. I pray that we can all get a deeper revelation of God’s love for us, how big our God is, how NOTHING is impossible with Him through His supernatural grace, and we will not fear, in Jesus name!
